How To Order Mason Pressure Pro Stretcher Pads & Answers to FAQs

As protection from pressure sores becomes a more common problem we wanted to address the issue.

John M. the ER Inventory Coordinator of St Vincent Hospital in Oregon sent a request for information on the Mason Medical stretcher pads that is relevant to any hospital or clinic concerned with patients who have body ulcers and using MRI and Xray diagnostics. He wants to know if the Pressure reducing pads, appropriate for stretchers, treatment tables, and operating room tables were:

1. Latex Free?
2. Wipe-able non-permeable occlusive coverings?
3. MRI Safe?
4. Good for patients predisposed to pressure sores?

Answer 1: Yes all of the Mason Medical Pressure reducing pads, appropriate for stretchers, treatment tables, and operating room tables are latex free.

Answer 2: Yes all Mason Medical Pressure Reducing Pad covers are vinyl and available as either zippered or sealed coverings both of which are wipeable non-permeable occlusive coverings.

Answer 3: The basic issue is conductivity for use in the MRI or X-ray room with a pressure reducing stretcher pad and the answer is no. Bed ridden, diabetic or elderly patients with or at risk for pressure sores should be transfered from a stretcher with a Mason Medical Pressure Reducing Pad to a conductive pad and stretcher.
(Conductive pads are of course available from Mason Medical as well.)

Answer 4: Yes Mason Medical Pressure Reducing Pads have been designed to alleviate pressure on existing ulcers and reduce the risk of developing pressure sores in at risk patients.

Mason Medical Pressure Pro Stretcher Pads achieve pressure reduction with a multi-layered product that is:
* Designed with variable density foams including Memory-III Visco Elastic, to provide the most comfortable pressure reducing environment for your patient!
* These conductive & non-conductive replacement stretcher and treatment pads are available for every area of the institution from the operating room to labor and delivery
* Pads are custom designed to meet all manufacturers original specifications
* The ideal choice for long procedures.

Facilities desiring pricing for these products must be specific when ordering.

These specialty stretcher pads come in 1 piece, 2 piece or 3 piece styles.
You will also need to know the stretcher dimensions and corner styles (round, square or cut). If the corners are cut then you will be required to provide the cut dimensions (a diagram with measurements and a template is best). You then also have a choice of 3" or 4" height and again you must decide if you need the stretcher pads to have sealed or zippered vinyl covers.Picture of one piece, two piece and three piece stretcher pads

Thanks to John for the question and we hope this guide saves you time and alleviates some of the confusion in the stretcher pad ordering process.
